Privacy Policy
Who we are
Summers Ahead is a free service for people at or near retirement. You leave your name and a phone number, a person calls you, and if it makes sense we introduce you to one licensed insurance agency.
Summers Ahead is a brand of Apex Digital Media LLC, a Florida limited liability company.
Apex Digital Media LLC 55 Weston Rd Suite 205 Weston, FL 33326 privacy@apexdm.co
This policy covers summersahead.com, the phone calls and text messages we send you, and everything we do with what you tell us. It does not cover what a licensed agency does with your information after we introduce you to them. Once we hand your details to an agency you agreed to speak with, they hold their own copy and their own privacy policy applies. You can ask them directly what they do with it.
We are not an insurance company. We do not sell insurance, and we do not give insurance, investment, tax or legal advice.
What we collect, and where it comes from
What you type on our website
Three things are required and one is optional:
- Your first name and your last name. The name a licensed firm would ask for if we introduce you to one.
- A phone number. This is the only way we can reach you.
- An email address, optional. So we can confirm in writing what you asked for.
Some versions of our page also ask a small number of multiple-choice questions, such as your age range, roughly when you plan to retire, or what you are trying to work out. You choose from a list. You are never asked to type a figure.
What we record alongside it
When you ask us to call, we automatically record the moment you asked, the internet address (IP address) and browser your request came from, the web address of the page you were on including any advertising tags in it, and the exact paragraph you agreed to, word for word.
That last item matters. We store the actual sentence you saw, not a reference to it, so that if anyone ever asks who authorised a call to you and what they were told, the answer is on the record rather than reconstructed.
What comes from a lead generation partner
Some of the people we call did not fill in our form. They filled in a form run by a lead generation partner, agreed there to be contacted about retirement planning, and that partner passed their details to us. Where that is how we got your number, we hold what the partner sent, which can include:
- First and last name
- Phone number, and sometimes an email address
- Postal address, city, state and ZIP code
- Date of birth
- Gender
- An income range the partner recorded
- The evidence of your opt-in: the wording the partner says you agreed to, the date and time, the internet address they recorded, an identifier for their record, and where available an independent third-party certificate confirming the form was submitted
We keep that evidence exactly as the partner supplied it, and we keep it separate from information we observed ourselves. A record that came from someone else is marked as such and never presented as something we witnessed.
What comes from a social lead form
If you responded to one of our advertisements on a social platform and submitted your details inside that platform rather than on our website, we receive the details you entered there and the record of your agreement, and we treat it the same way as any other form you filled in.
What you tell a person on the call
When we call, we ask a small number of questions so we can point you at the right firm, or tell you honestly that we cannot help. Those are:
- Roughly what your retirement savings look like, as a range. We do not ask for exact figures and we ask only once. If you would rather not say, we record that you preferred not to say and carry on.
- Broadly where that money sits, for example a 401(k), an IRA or a brokerage account
- Whether you are already retired, or working towards a date
- What you are hoping to work out
- Whether anyone else in the household would want to be part of the conversation
- Your state, and your last name if you are happy to give it
There are things we will never ask for, and you should refuse if anyone claiming to be from Summers Ahead asks: your Social Security number, any account number, a password or bank login, your exact date of birth, exact account balances, tax returns, a driver's licence, credit reports, or health records.
Recordings, transcripts and messages
Calls to and from Summers Ahead are recorded. We tell you this on the call. Recordings are used for quality, for training our staff, and to settle disputes about what happened on a call.
Recordings are also transcribed and analysed automatically, by software rather than a person, to score call quality and to help us coach the people who make the calls. Where a call is transferred to a licensed agency, that part of the conversation may be recorded and analysed too.
Some of our calls are placed or assisted by automated calling technology, and some calls may be handled by an AI voice assistant rather than a person. Where that is the case you are told at the start of the call.
We also keep the text messages we exchange with you, and a log of when we called and what happened.
How we use it
- To call you, which is what you asked us to do. Some calls are placed using dialling software, and some may be placed or assisted by an AI voice assistant.
- To text you, about your request: following up when we missed you, confirming or reminding you of an appointment, checking back in later if you asked us to, and having a normal back-and-forth conversation with a person on our team.
- To decide whether we can help, based on what you tell us on the call.
- To introduce you to one licensed insurance agency, on a live transferred call, and only if you agree to that introduction on the call.
- To record, transcribe and grade calls, for quality, training and to resolve disputes with the agencies we work with.
- To prevent fraud and abuse, including detecting duplicate or falsified records.
- To measure our advertising, so we know which advertisements reached people who actually wanted to hear from us.
- To keep our own records of who authorised contact and when, which is what the consent record exists for.
We do not use what you tell us to decide anything about your insurance eligibility, and we do not price anything. We are not licensed to do that. The licensed agency does that work, separately, after the introduction.
Who we share it with
One licensed insurance agency
If the conversation gets that far, we introduce you to one agency, we tell you its name before the introduction, and we connect you only if you say yes. We pass your name, your number, your state and a short summary of what you said you wanted to work out.
We introduce you to one firm. We do not pass your number to a list of firms to compete over, and we do not add you to a marketing list.
From the moment of that introduction, the agency holds its own copy of your details and decides for itself what to do with them. Their privacy policy governs that copy, not this one. If you later want them to stop contacting you, tell us and we will tell them, and you can also tell them directly.
Service providers
We use outside companies to run the service. Each one only gets what it needs for its own job, and each acts on our instructions. By category:
- Hosting and database providers, which run our website and store our records
- Telephony and dialer providers, which place and connect calls and store call recordings
- AI transcription and analysis providers, which turn recordings into text and score them
- Email and SMS providers, which deliver our messages
- Lead generation partners, from whom we receive records as described above
- Professional advisers, such as lawyers and accountants, under a duty of confidence
We do not name individual providers in this policy because the list changes. Write to privacy@apexdm.co and we will tell you the current ones.
Advertising measurement partners
When optional advertising measurement is enabled and permitted by your privacy choice, we may share limited technical and event information with Meta, which operates Facebook and Instagram, as explained below. Meta's use of that information is also governed by its Privacy Policy, rather than only by our instructions. This information is not anonymous: Meta may associate it with a browser or account.
Legal and safety
We may disclose information where the law requires it, in response to a valid legal process, to establish or defend a legal claim, to protect the rights, property or safety of Apex Digital Media LLC, our staff, our clients or the public, and to a regulator investigating a complaint. If our business or its assets are sold or merged, information may transfer as part of that, subject to this policy continuing to apply.
What we do not do
We do not sell your information for money. We do not rent it, and we do not trade it.
Some state privacy laws define a "sale" or a "share" broadly enough to include sending identifiers to an advertising platform so it can measure advertising, even where no money changes hands. Our optional advertising measurement falls within that broader definition. You can refuse it at any time using Privacy choices, by sending a Global Privacy Control signal, which we honour automatically, or by writing to privacy@apexdm.co. Refusing costs you nothing and does not affect whether we will call you.
Cookies, pixels and advertising
On the site itself. We use short-lived cookies to remember your request, display its confirmation and support follow-up questions for up to one hour. We also use cookies lasting up to 30 days to remember which version of a form or landing page you received. Advertising tags in your arrival address may be attached to your request so we know which advertisement brought you. These request records are separate from optional advertising measurement.
Advertising measurement. We advertise on social and search platforms. Measurement helps us understand which advertisements lead to visits and successful requests for a call. It is on unless you turn it off: the Privacy choices section near the bottom of every page shows the current status and lets you choose Essential only, and a browser that sends a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal is treated as having chosen it. Turning it off does not affect your request for a call.
Browser measurement (Meta Pixel). Unless you have turned measurement off, the Meta Pixel loads on every page of this site and can report a page visit or successful call request from your browser. Meta may receive your IP address, browser and device information, cookie identifiers, the time and type of event, and page and referring-page information, including the advertising tags in the address you arrived on. It may set or read its own cookies to associate that activity with a Meta account. We do not enable automatic matching of the contact details entered in our forms in the browser; contact details reach Meta only hashed, from our servers, as described next. When you arrive from a Meta advertisement, we also keep the click identifier from that address in a first-party cookie for up to 90 days so the visit can be matched to the advertisement.
Server-side measurement (Meta Conversions API). Unless you have turned measurement off, our servers also report that a call request was submitted. That report contains an event reference, the event time, our website address, the IP address and browser associated with the request, the Meta cookie identifiers described above, and a scrambled (hashed, using SHA-256) form of the name, phone number, email address, and any city, state or postcode you gave us, together with a hashed reference to your record with us. Meta uses the hashed values to match the request to a Meta account and to measure the advertisement. Meta receives it only in hashed form, never as plain text.
What we do not send to Meta through this measurement. We do not send your answers about age, income, savings, contributions, retirement plans or other qualification questions, anything you tell a person on the call, or any call recordings, transcripts or call content. When your answers meet the basic criteria for the program we arrange calls for (where you live, your age range and the monthly amount you chose), our server also tells Meta that a request was a "qualified" request. That signal does not include your answers themselves. When a request leads to a completed call with a licensed agent, we may share with our advertising partners, including Meta, that the call took place and its value to us, using hashed contact details, to measure and improve our ads. Your name, phone number and email address reach Meta only in hashed form, never as plain text.
How to opt out.
- On this website: open Privacy choices and choose Essential only. This stops future measurement for that browser, including server-side measurement associated with that choice. When the section says measurement is currently off, there is nothing you need to enable or accept to request a call. Changing your choice does not recall information already sent to Meta.
- Remembering your choice: we use first-party cookies to remember your measurement choice for up to 30 days. This is a cookie lifetime, not a promise to delete all records after 30 days. If you clear cookies, change browsers or use another device, make your choice there too. A browser opt-out signal continues to apply when present.
- For a request tied to your contact details: email privacy@apexdm.co and ask us to stop using your information for advertising measurement. We will action it and confirm. This is separate from a request to stop calls or texts.
- On the platform's side: every major advertising platform has its own ad-preferences controls in your account settings, which apply across every advertiser, not just us.
- In your browser: most browsers let you block or delete cookies. Industry opt-out tools are available at optout.aboutads.info and optout.networkadvertising.org.
- Global Privacy Control: we treat Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track signals as instructions to keep optional advertising measurement off, including its server-side reporting. These signals do not prevent you from requesting a call.
How long we keep it
Twenty-four months is our standard retention period. That covers call recordings, transcripts and grading, message logs, call attempt history, and the details you gave us. After that they are deleted or de-identified.
Consent records may be kept longer. The record of who authorised us to contact them, when, and the exact wording they agreed to, is the evidence that a call or text was authorised. We may keep it beyond twenty-four months for as long as a claim could still be brought about that contact.
The record that you asked us to stop is kept indefinitely. If you ask us to stop calling, we keep a record of the request and its date, so that we can show we stopped and so that nothing puts you back on a list later. Deleting that record would remove the proof rather than the problem.
Your choices and your rights
These apply to everyone who contacts us, wherever you live. Some states give you additional rights, set out in the next section.
Stop optional advertising measurement
Use Privacy choices near the bottom of this page and choose Essential only when available, or email privacy@apexdm.co for a request tied to your contact details. The cookies and advertising section above explains what the choice covers. You do not need to stop calls or texts to refuse optional advertising measurement.
Stop calling and texting me
- On a call, just say so. It takes effect immediately and you do not have to explain why.
- By text, reply STOP to any message from us. Reply HELP for help.
- By phone or email, using the details below.
- Online, at summersahead.com/do-not-call.
Any method works. We do not require a particular one, we do not ask why, and we do not try to talk you out of it. When you ask us to stop, we add you to our internal do-not-call list, which blocks future contact from us. That is separate from the National Do Not Call Registry at donotcall.gov, which applies to every company rather than only to us, and which you can join as well.
See what we hold about you
Ask, and we will tell you what we hold, where it came from, what we have done with it, and who we have shared it with.
Correct it
If something is wrong, tell us and we will fix it.
Delete it
Ask, and we delete your name, your number and what you told us. Two exceptions, both narrow: the record that you asked us to stop, and any record we are legally required to keep or that we need to defend a legal claim. We will tell you if either applies to you.
How to exercise any of these
Email privacy@apexdm.co, or write to the postal address at the top of this policy. Include the phone number you were contacted on so we can find you. If you prefer to call, our number is on summersahead.com.
We reply within 10 business days to acknowledge, and complete the request within 45 calendar days. If a request is genuinely complicated we may take up to a further 45 days, and we will tell you before we do, with the reason.
We do not charge for this and we will not treat you differently for asking. We may need to verify who you are before releasing or deleting information, which normally means confirming details we already hold. If someone acts on your behalf we will ask for proof of their authority.
If you live in California
The California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended, gives you specific rights. We honour them.
Categories of personal information we collect, in the language the statute uses:
| Statutory category | What that means here |
|---|---|
| Identifiers | Name, phone number, email address, postal address, IP address, and online identifiers from advertising tags |
| Personal information under Cal. Civ. Code §1798.80 | Name, address, phone number, and information about your financial situation as ranges |
| Protected classification characteristics | Age range or date of birth, and gender, where a lead generation partner supplied them |
| Commercial information | The service you requested and whether an introduction was made |
| Internet or network activity | The page you arrived on, the advertisement that brought you, and your browser type |
| Audio information | Call recordings and transcripts |
| Inferences | Whether your stated situation matched what a client agency is looking for |
Sources: you; lead generation partners; advertising platforms carrying our social lead forms; and our own systems.
Purposes: everything listed under "How we use it" above.
Disclosure for a business purpose: we disclose identifiers, commercial information, audio information and the summary of what you said to the one licensed agency you agree to be introduced to, and to the service provider categories listed above.
Sale and sharing: we do not sell your personal information for money. Our optional advertising measurement discloses technical identifiers and website activity to Meta for cross-context behavioural advertising, and we treat that as sharing under state privacy law. To refuse it, use Privacy choices and choose Essential only, send a Global Privacy Control signal, or contact privacy@apexdm.co. We honour a Global Privacy Control signal automatically and treat it as a refusal for that browser without further action from you. We do not discriminate against anyone for exercising these rights.
Sensitive personal information: we do not collect Social Security numbers, financial account numbers, precise geolocation, or account credentials.
Your California rights: to know, to access a copy in a portable form, to correct, to delete, to opt out of sale or sharing, to limit the use of sensitive personal information where applicable, and not to be discriminated against for exercising any of them. Exercise them at privacy@apexdm.co, using the process and timelines above. You may use an authorised agent, with written proof of authority.
Minors: we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16 and we do not sell or share the personal information of minors.
If you live in Florida
Apex Digital Media LLC is a Florida limited liability company. Florida law gives residents rights of access, correction, deletion, portability, and opt-out of targeted advertising, the sale of personal data, and profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects.
Exercise them the same way, at privacy@apexdm.co. If we refuse a request we will tell you why, and you may appeal that refusal by replying to our decision and asking for it to be reviewed. We will respond to an appeal in writing within 60 days, and if we still refuse we will tell you how to complain to the Florida Attorney General.
If you live in another state
We call consumers in every state where one of our client agencies is licensed. Several of those states have their own comprehensive privacy laws, and their rights are broadly the same: to know what we hold, to get a copy, to correct it, to delete it, and to opt out of targeted advertising and of the sale of personal data.
We apply the same process to everyone. Wherever you live, write to privacy@apexdm.co and we will handle your request under the timelines in this policy, without asking you to prove your state qualifies you.
Where your state gives you a right to appeal a refusal, you have it, on the same terms described in the Florida section. Where your state's attorney general takes privacy complaints, you may complain to them.
Nothing in this section limits the federal and state telemarketing rules that apply to our calls and texts regardless of where you live, including your right to tell us to stop at any time.
Children
Summers Ahead is for adults at or near retirement. It is not directed at children, we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18, and we have no reason to contact anyone under 18. If you believe a child's information has reached us, email privacy@apexdm.co and we will delete it.
How we protect it
- Records are held in a database that rejects unauthenticated requests. Only our own server-side systems can read or write them.
- Access is limited to staff who need it to do their job, each with their own account, and their actions are logged against that account.
- Everyone with access is under a written confidentiality and data-handling obligation, and is prohibited from exporting, copying, screenshotting or removing consumer records.
- We do not ask for or store Social Security numbers, account numbers, passwords or bank logins anywhere in this service.
- Payment card details are handled by a payment processor. We never see or store them.
No system is perfectly secure and we cannot promise absolute security. If a breach affects your information we will notify you and any regulator as the law requires.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the service changes. When we do we will change the "Last updated" date at the top. If a change materially affects how we use information we already hold about you, we will tell you before it takes effect.
Changing this policy does not change what you already agreed to. The exact wording you agreed to is stored on your own record, and that record is what governs the contact you authorised.
